While for many this causes only minor annoyance, for some 1-2 per cent of the population it is a severe, but little understood condition. This book is designed for both sufferers, their families and all professionals concerned with hearing problems. It is written in non-technical language, but makes full reference to the research literature. It draws on a survey of tinnitus sufferers recently conducted by the authors and evaluates treatment strategies such as the use of maskers.
